My Writing Journey
My path to publication has been anything but linear. It began with articles for Natural Horse Magazine in the early 2000s, exploring holistic approaches to horse care that were still considered "alternative" at the time. I illustrated books for Peggy Cummings, combining my training as an artist with my passion for Connected Riding. I wrote short stories that won contests. And after fifteen years of carrying a promise made to the Spirit of the Horse, I finally brought In It for the Horses into the world.

Journal of American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association Betsy (fine art giclée print, open edition, on archival paper from an 8.5” x 8.5” pencil drawing) is the work of artist Nancy K. Camp and depicts a Belgian draft mare. In 2011, Nancy filmed and documented a local Idaho rancher using a draft team to feed cattle in winter. One head shot inspired her to create a portrait of this kind, hardworking mare. |
